Creative Living Beyond Fear

Very readable book. Gilbert writes casually as though she's talking to you, and with good humour. My favourite part is where she says you should write for yourself, not to help anybody, because you can always tell when someone's trying to help somebody by the haunted look on the faces of those they're trying to help. Also key is her idea that we're adult enough to hold two contradictory ideas in our mind at the same time and believe them both. Creativity is sacred and it is not sacred. We're terrified to create art and we're brave enough to do it. Art is a crushing chore and a wonderful privilege. All true.
