On Spain's Costa Brava, passion and intrigue are everywhere -- especially in the hearts of those who dwell there. As the dictator Franco teeters on the edge of overthrow, two couples are entwined. One is a husband and wife bored with the existence they have drifted into, the other a passionate, combative pair who relish every moment of life. Into this potent mix comes a young American seeking his missing lover -- bringing a shadow of danger into the machinations already at work.

I realize this book is about people changing and how they change; but the conversation between any given person in this book was very confusing and hard to follow. The ending just seemed to cut off, was not sure how each person's life was changed.

I'm a huge John Lescroart fan but was very disappointed in this. As I recall, it was his first novel and he has improved dramatically over this, so don't let it keep you from reading his other books!
