Anne is barely a teenager when she is sent from her family's Hever Castle to serve at the royal court of the Netherlands. There, and later in France, Anne thrives. But her powerful family has ambitious plans for her future that override any wishes of her own. When the King of England himself, Henry VIII, asks Anne to be his mistress, she spurns his advances-- he is a married man who has already conducted an affair with her sister, Mary. This rejection only intensifies Henry's pursuit, tempting Anne even as it proves to be her undoing.

As someone who has been a voracious researcher of the Tudors since middle school and graduated with a degree in History from college, I was disappointed in this book and the author. Anne Boleyn was a complex, intelligent woman who deserved better than to be treated so flimsily. She was flirtatious, witty, loyal, as well as ambitious. I find it unsettling when a writer of historical fiction shows such clear disdain for the individual she's writing about. When an author writes with obvious bias of their subject (particularly when it's someone who actually existed), the results are often disappointing. There seemed to be a lack of research done (for example, Anne only had a brother and sister, not multiple brothers and a sister), and it makes me cringe to see such a well-regarded writer as Weir take the character of Anne in such a predictable, already-done direction.

Amazing! So descriptive, I was lost in the story. Cannot wait for her next book to come out.

Excellent!
Although it tells you more than you'd like to know about what it's like to be beheaded, which doesn't come 'til the end so that's a mercy.
