Add a CommentThis is one of my favorite books by Koontz. I was enthralled by page one and I cannot recommend this book more.
While fantasy and sci-fi aren't generally my go-to topics, this book entertained me in a way that has forced me to reconsider the genres.
This is a solid, early Koontz book; one that leans way more heavily to the side of horror than suspense. Expect death.
He sets up a chilling situation and there are some intelligent twists and resolutions but also some failures in providing completely satisfying explanations for the extreme level of bizarre which he exploits to achieve the overall terror of the story.
Phantoms ----by Dean R. Koontz c - 2002 ---- This is an Excellent story. ---- It is very hard to find out what happened! ---- Enjoy! ---- RichardPaul
A promisingly mysterious and atmospheric beginning that gradually mires itself in increasing degrees of juvenalia, culminating in a firey action-movie drag and tidy, unchallenging resolution.
