No Khaled Hossieni but still gripping. World needs to read the books on the such countries & know what goes behind closed doors. Truly heart wrenching.

Ok. Worth the read but didn’t blow my mind. It’s no “kite runner”.

This was a very good read, at times hard to read through, just because of what the women go through at the hands of some men in their lives. But the ending of Hashimi books always end positively maybe a little bittersweet but positive. …

Though its story was sad, even devastating at points, it felt authentic and let us in to a world we don't often get to enter. I recommend this book!

This is a must-read book; women will naturally relate to the female issues but the revelations of culture and history are well done and the author is a gifted storyteller.

If you want to know what Islam's about - read this book! (You close your eyes, grit your teeth and become a war lords "wife" - at 13 mind you! Sold by an opium addicted father who beats his wife and sells his daughters for drugs.)

It was an amazing story of two women who changed their fate by pushing their boundaries and rebelling. It was interesting to learn from women's side of their culture. How all the women in the family treat each other and how respect is seen.

This book was very enlightening. In my opinion it is worth reading. It goes to show you how lucky we are to live in a Democratic society. We live in a society that favours equal rights, freedom of speech, a fair trial and we try to…

A hard book to read at times but also a very rewarding one. I started the book thinking the book would just be about one particular custom but that custom, of course, is part of a bigger story and issue and I'm glad that that story is what…
